Complementary medicine for children results in incredible improvements after just three sessions thanks to ‘The Clover House Solution’

Bristol based children’s charity, Clover House, gives credit to its pioneering combination therapy programme for their remarkable success rates in treating children and adolescents suffering with behavioural, emotional and physical problems, often after just three sessions.

“At Clover House we combine aromatherapy, NLP (creative imagery) and nutrition. Each therapy is valuable in its own right, but it’s the fusion of therapies that helps us produce such consistent and rapid results,” explains Gillian Gill, co-Founder, Clover House.

The Clover House Solution treats the child, not the problem; we give the child a chance to be heard and look at the underlying issues, not just the behavioural or physical symptoms that manifest.”

Clover House offers a real solution for children and parents by mobilising children’s inner resources to promote natural healing. We do this through massage, which gives a child a sense of security and of being loved (the parents are taught massage to reinforce the parent-child bond); creative imagery which helps children banish their fears and traumas; and through nutritional advice on how to combat behavioural, physical and emotional problems through diet.

In 2007 over 85% of clients said we treated their condition successfully after just three visits to our practice!

Many parents are absolutely desperate when they bring their child to Clover House. In many cases the parents have tried conventional medicine routes, but with little success.

“We were truly desperate; our child was broken and damaged. Our doctor had tried many things with no success and was recommending the drug Ritalin. We found Clover House, who gave us breathing space. Our son became calmer almost immediately, was freed of his anger and fear and is now a happy well balanced boy again. It’s a miracle” –

Notes to Editors

Clover House is a charity registered with the Charities Commission – Registration 1057408.

Clover House keeps all client information confidential.  However, we have a list of parents who are willing to be interviewed by the media, as well as some photographs.  We can also provide photographs of our therapists.  Please contact us for details.

Clover House was established in 1996, by co-founders Basil Jones and Gillian Gill to “relieve sickness and suffering of children and young people through the provision of complementary care, and then publish the results widely.” It was born out of a commitment to children and a passionate belief in the efficiency of complementary medicine to promote healing.

Basil Jones, a psychotherapist and NLP Master Practitioner, worked for many years with young offenders on probation. He realised that many of them might have been leading a different life now had they been given an opportunity to resolve emotional issues stemming from childhood experience. Gillian Gill, an aromatherapist and reflexologist, worked at Bristol Cancer Care centre for many years, and met Basil Jones there.  Clover House was born.

Clover House treats children and adolescents from age 3-19, with a huge range of problems, from ADHD, depression, constipation, low self esteem to bullying, asthma, epilepsy and aggressive behaviour. The list goes on.

Aromatherapy. Every child needs to feel love as well as know it is loved. It is vital for children to release the physical symptoms of stress each day, and to sleep properly. Aromatherapy massage just before bedtime helps achieve these things. An essential part of the work done at Clover House is to teach the parents to massage their child. Massage is a non-verbal method of strengthening and reinforcing their bond with the child.

Creative Imagery (NLP). The imagination is a powerful ally in combating illness or behavioural problems. Children are good at using their imagination so Creative Imagery is the natural choice. It works to harness the power of the imagination to help the child combat its own problems, to look at the solution rather than the problem. It does this by guiding a child to create specific images of their pain and suffering, and training them to gain control by creating positive images of how the problem can be removed and made safe.

Nutrition. Physical, psychological health and emotional well being are all directly influenced by nutrition, as each nutrient has a specific role to play in the way the mind and body function. Poor eating habits contribute to many imbalances, poor concentration and behavioural patterns. Clover House designs a specific eating plan to suit each child which is explained carefully to the child and parents how eating differently can help overcome the issues the child is dealing with.

Each session includes time with an aromatherapist, an NLP Practitioner and a Nutritionist. Families are asked to contribute what they can, at least £35. To keep running, Clover House needs to raise £350 per session to cover the treatment costs.  Clover House has a bursary fund for parents on low incomes.

Clover House is completely dependent on the voluntary sector, and charitable trusts for its survival. Through raising of public awareness about Clover House, the aim is for more children to come for treatment and healing here, and for more funding to come its way, and eventually for its model to be replicated all over the UK, and to help more children overcome their difficulties.
