333F Ella, Aged 6Separation – Emotions
The Problem
Mum was given a leaflet from her divorce solicitor ,and reported that Ella had become “disruptive and aggressive at home and seems generally confused and upset about the situation” “She gets distressed on return from being with her father and the few days following visits she had severe temper tantrums and is easily upset by the slightest thing”
The Treatment - 3 sessions
With the Imagery therapist Ella did a “blow out” on a distressing thought and installed a super hero (she chose Mum) to help her in her dreams. Mum also did some work to replace some good thoughts over bad ones. At the second session Ella cleared her fears on dogs and did work on seeing herself in the future having good times.
Mum took to massage well and reported at the second week that they had been doing them every night which they both found relaxing and beneficial. Mum had been ill during the second week, so Ella had looked after her and reported that she had made Mum toast, and done the washing up.
The family diet was good and Mum was advised to emphasis on calming foods containing magnesium and B vitamins for stress and balancing blood sugar levels; to have more substantial breakfast (eggs, beans, wholemeal toast, porridge) to try some new foods (oily fish, humus, seeds and lots of vegetables, and to have nutritious snacks and supper.
The Result
The therapists reported noticing Ella now showed emotions in her face, and Mum and Ella were happy that they had achieved what they came for.
In an evaluation one month later Mum scored goals at 8/10 and scored us 9/10 satisfied with service. She liked the “very child-friendly, and being welcomed like a family member, made very comfortable, all staff were friendly yet professional.”
