Anxiety – Sleep - Concentration - Separation
The Problem
Mum was recommended to us and wrote 2 pages of symptoms with a possible diagnosis of ADHD, with poor concentration, falling behind at school, can’t retain instructions, poor handwriting, easily distracted and unable to keep still.
The Treatment – 3 sessions
Nutrition
Mum and Martin had explained how sugar and sugary foods are affecting Martins mood and concentration, and advice included adding nuts and seeds and yoghurt to his breakfast cereal to be more sustaining, to have a protein and carbohydrate based snack at bedtime to prevent blood sugar levels falling too low during the night. The nutritionist recommended multi-vitamin and minerals, magnesium and Omega 3 supplements, together with handouts, and that new foods need to be tried 15 times to get used to. At subsequent session’s recipes and snack ideas, substitutes, and handouts were given and support to change to better eating.
Massage
Martin was eager for massage, and Mum enjoyed watching. Martin had pain in his right shoulder blade from an injury, and was found to have shallow breathing so a breathing technique was explained. They received some oil, a massage handout and our booklet. Mum did some massage every other night and said it helped her relax also.
Imagery
The first problem tacked was sleep problems with a “dream arm” and “super hero” helper. As Mum was close to tears several times work was done on clearing some of her incidents with a difficult divorce. The next session helped Martin deal with “life’s blows And bad memories,. Mum wanted more help so she also did clearing bad memories and feelings of hopelessness. As Martin was going to move house at the third session work was done about seeing himself in the future, and dealing with future changes.
