357F Amy, Aged 8
Sleep
The Problem
Mum wrote that “Amy has trouble getting to sleep, finds it difficult to be alone upstairs at night and sometimes during the day”. Mum had been to the doctors, who had said she was probably getting enough sleep, but Mum knew she had bags under her eyes, couldn’t get to sleep, was tired on waking, and often tearful. She had hesitated over several months thinking the problem was not serious enough for our help.
The Treatment - 3 sessions
Imagery
It was revealed that Amy had been frightened of something on television and had been scared of going to bed ever since, so without asking for details Amy did a “rewind” in her mind which cleared the emotional attachment. This was followed up by doing the “dream arm” technique. At the second session Amy and Mum were worried about bad feelings and a “blow out” technique was used to replace good feelings over bad feelings. Confidence was worked on by “installing a friendly lioness” and for Amy to practise using this. The third session was to say goodbye and more work was done of self confidence and “autobiography imagery”, and finally seeing her self succeed in the future.
Massage
Some massage techniques were shown together with having our DVD and to practice at home. Mum said it made her aware of their frantic life style, and recognised that on talking that doing homework was a stressful issue. Amy particularly liked her face and ears to be massaged, and just asked for this from her Mum when ever she wanted.
Nutrition
It was found the Amy was a fussy eater and only eats what she decides she likes, and Mum was in a habit of just preparing those certain foods. Supplements of fish oils and vitamins were taken with recommendations of a snack in the evening before bed, to try different fruits and vegetables, tuna, nut and seed butters, plain yoghurt and muesli.
Subsequent sessions were refining some of the foods i.e. Amy liked only roast potatoes and with more ideas and different heating habits – i.e. Amy would only try new foods with Mum being present! Amy was to make up her own taste sheet to try new foods 15 times.
