318M Tim Aged 7

ADHD Anxious Bedwetting

The Problem
Mum wrote out a big list of problems including ADHD, anxious, bedwetting, tantrums, hitting other children, palpitations, repeated bouts of tonsillitis, and wrote that he was very sad at times, and still cries about his granddad who died 2 years previously. “He has started to tell people he hates them, especially teachers, and He hits or swears at other children and doesn’t know how to make friends”. They had tried sleeping tablets but they didn’t help. Tim was on high dose of Ritalin for ADHD.

The Treatment - 3 Sessions

Imagery
At the first session Tim recalled how he was frightened on starting School when he was sent to the head teacher for talking too much in class who slammed his hand on the desk to emphasise a point and Tim had had bad dreams from then on. Tim told the story with crayons and “rewound” the incident, and did a sleeping imagery of a superman to help him in his dreams. Both Mum and Tim did a clearing of grief about grandparents dying.

Massage
Mum was shown massage and it was agreed with Tim that if he gets ready for bed without fuss, he could have longer for his massage at home. By the second session massage was going well and was able to lie down for 25 minutes, he read the massage handout and tells Mum and Dad if they don’t follow the sheet!.

Nutrition
At consultation the family was asked to reduce sugary foods (which produce highs and lows and mood swings) to avoid all processed foods, that Tim has an apple or oat cake at bedtime, and to aim to eat more foods containing vitamins and minerals to support the immune system. Handouts were given together with some vitamins and supplements. Tim doesn’t eat his packed lunch. Mum wanted to talk to the Doctor about reducing his Ritalin drug.

The Results

By the second session it was reported that Tim was no longer bedwetting, and had tried many new foods, Tim was friendly and got the soft toys blowing kisses. At the third session it was reported that the dinner lady had told Mum that Tim’s Behaviour had changed – he no longer fought and was making friends and playing with others. He was getting to bed better, hadn’t mentioned any heart palpitations, Mum had reduced drugs and was going to talk to the Doctor more about this, and Tim had started school dinners, - all the family were on the new diet and all had lost weight.
