Case Study 315F Jane Aged 9

Confidence Eat more Quiet

The Problem

Mum wrote that Jane had “very little confidence, loses tract of what is being said, but won’t speak up because she’s too frightened. Very quiet, she takes second place at home because here sister has ADHD and puts herself first” As a baby she “was slow to wean, hated lumps and now still doesn’t like meat and only eats small amounts” Jane had experienced speech problems and had seen paediatricians, occupational therapists and speech therapists, but was still shy about speaking.

The Treatment – 3 sessions

Nutrition
Jane and her parents were suggested to follow a blood sugar balance diet (from handout) to reduce processed foods, to try small sandwiches instead of fruit and porridge at night, and to see if she could have a snack at break time at school. Encouragement was given for ways of eating different fruit and vegetables and protein.

Massage
Jane was made to feel special, as her older sister commands a lot of the family’s attention. At the first session she would only give one word answers, but the Therapist found a common love of dogs, and they agreed to swap photos. Mum and Dad did massage at home, and by the third session Jane was happily chatting away about a variety of subjects.

Imagery
After some magic tricks Jane relaxed and sat away from her parents and did some work on stress and teachers. Jane found a puppet dog to communicate through and a couple more techniques were done. At the third session the whole family attended and a quick work was done with her sister about ADHD.

The Results

Mum reported “it happened suddenly after the second session” Sarah talking more and school have noticed.
