Rosie, Aged 12

Moods  Anxiety  Headaches

The Problem

Mum heard about us through a school talk. She reported her child had frequent headaches and panic attacks, various anxieties (walking on her own, accidents and travelling) and had big mood swings.

The Treatment – 3 sessions

Nutrition
Advice was given to stabilise blood sugar levels including having a substantial breakfast, varying the foods, and have a filling snack in the evening.  Later it was suggested to avoid dairy, try wholemeal bread, and to vary lunches. Also have more water. Lots of handouts were given, together with acidophilus supplement.

Massage
Support was given to Rosie about being nervous at school and an acupressure point for headaches.   Mum already knew about massage and reflexology and was asked to incorporate this into a daily routine.

Imagery
As Rosemary was very nervous, stories were told to introduce her about overcoming anxieties and phobias.  A tennis ball technique was incorporated to deal with panicking, and a “blow out” to help clear them.

Results

Two months later after session Mum completed an evaluation

She wrote ”Gained some useful nutritional information, had the value of touch re-affirmed;  and realised that talking is not the best way”, that Rosemary needed to “get out of her head” and into practicalities.   She most liked that the service was “small and personalised”
