A varied, healthy diet is essential for your child’s physical, emotional and mental well-being. Our aim at Clover House is to encourage you and your child to adopt and develop eating habits and lifestyle changes that support a healthy mind and body.
Our nutritionist, Philippa, will explain how your child’s present eating habits can contribute to their health problems. Common examples are too many processed, sugary foods or repetitive, rushed and missed meals. Some children are allergic or intolerant to additives; in some cases, this produces a rash or even altered behaviour.
Philippa will then suggest ways to make practical changes to help relieve your child’s symptoms and conditions. For example, balancing blood-sugar levels can help eliminate problems with concentration, energy levels and mood swings. This may involve introducing alternative, healthier foods or simply changing meal-times.
For children who eat only a few different foods, it is worth nothing that they may have to try a new food up to 15 times to become used to it and accept it. Philippa will also show how worthwhile it is to persevere with the suggested changes to see the improvement in your child.
Our experience has shown that children are more likely to make changes once they understand the connection between what they eat and how they feel. Changing the way that they eat will help them to feel happier and more able to enjoy school, friends and family life.
