One of the best things about working in healthcare is seeing the results. It can be so sad to learn of the health issues faced by children and their families but Clover House gets to see the upbeat side too when children leave us happy and healthy! Following the news can get a bit doom-and-gloom at times so we thought we'd share some success stories with you as well.
Help for the Clark family
A while back, we had the Clark family come to see us. They really needed help. Both children were ill and the parents were starting to become exhausted from not knowing what to do whilst having to deal with the daily impact of the illnesses. It had been months since either child attended school full-time and they were regularly sleeping in their parents' bed. Izabella's anxiety was getting out of hand, influencing many areas of her life and Jozef's chronic fatigue was proving difficult to diagnose – even with consultants involved.
Plenty of problems to work on
They came to us after a family friend recommended our help and boy, were they grateful! Our imagery therapist was able to help both children with the left-over trauma from a bad car-crash and worked with the parents to unify their approach in dealing with the children. Our nutritional therapist revamped Izabella's diet to tackle her IBS and allergies whilst rebalancing Jozef's blood sugar levels to avoid unneeded energy crashes. Finally, our massage therapist focused on family-wide stress relief with bed-time and abdominal massage techniques for Izabella.
After 5 months of treatment, all issues were resolved. Both were back to school full-time, Jozef's energy levels were back up, Izabella's anxiety and bowel problems were reduced, both were sleeping back in their own beds and mother, Jen, and father, Patrick, were much happier.
Relief and improvement
Jen said after that she was much relieved to have her children's 8-month long illness resolved and that Clover House was just what was needed for any parent “whose child is unwell to the point that they cannot go to school, or their behaviour is no longer classed as normal”.
We were really pleased to help the Clarks. We see too many unwell children whose families can't work out what to do and it's wonderful to help.
