What to expect

What to expect during a Creative Imagery Session

Joanne will explain how she works, and will ask both you and your child questions about the problems you’re experiencing and what you would like the ideal outcome to be. She will also ask about family dynamics or arrangements and about any habits affecting your child and/or the family in general, especially negative or dysfunctional ones.

She will then establish two or three goals or desired outcomes that you and your child would like to achieve. You will be asked to give these a score out of ten so that you can measure how things have progressed after three sessions. Subsequent sessions will last for around 30-40 minutes. Usually parents are present at the sessions, but there are times when a child might feel inhibited to talk freely in front of parents, for example if they have negative feelings around family relationships, step parents or step-siblings. If Joanne feels this is the case she will suggest seeing your child alone, with you and your child’s permission. When necessary she will also offer an individual session to a parent in distress.
